Detailed Description of Masterworks: Rare and Beautiful Chess Sets of the World

Across its pages, the book showcases extraordinary sets made from materials like ivory, rock crystal, and precious metals — objects that have transformed the 64-square board into a creative arena. Readers will find rare chess sets from five continents, including avant-garde designs by 20th-century artists like Max Ernst, Fabergé-made pieces, Soviet-era prison sets, and nameless Indian masterworks.

Compiled from museum collections and private archives, this volume is more than a catalog — it’s a curated journey through time and culture. Visually stunning and expertly written, it offers a rare look at some of the most beautiful chess sets in the world, all bound in a collectible publication by the creators of the acclaimed “Russian Criminal Tattoos” series.
