Leuchars Set ist nach William Leuchars benannt, einem Einzelhändler, der 1849 in seinem gehobenen Geschäft in Picadilly die ersten Jacques-Sets verkaufte. Leuchars Knights zeichnen sich durch eine schlichte Version des Cook-Ritters aus. Dieses Design war sehr selten und wurde nur in wenigen Leuchars-Sets verkauft. Sets dieses Designs wurden in Elfenbeinkombinationen sowie in Buchsbaum und Ebenholz angeboten.

Das Set wurde speziell für Schachsammler entwickelt, wobei die Herstellung der Schachfiguren sorgfältig durchdacht wurde. Jede Figur wird mit höchster Präzision gefertigt, sodass das Schachspiel in jeder Hinsicht perfekt ist.

Die Figuren wurden antikisiert, um den Patina-Effekt von alten Schachfiguren zu erzeugen und versetzen die stolzen Besitzer in die Zeit des Jahres 1849 zurück.
Diese Schachfiguren sind eine perfekte Verschmelzung von Form und Funktion und ihre elegante Ästhetik wird in keiner Weise durch ihren praktischen Nutzen beeinträchtigt.

Der Stil der einzelnen Leuchars Cook-Schachfiguren folgt einer bestimmten Grammatik. Der König wird durch seine Krone repräsentiert, die Königin durch ihre Krone. Die Läufer tragen markante Mitren mit tiefen Schlitzen. Die Springer – allgemein als die Hingucker unter allen Schachfiguren angesehen – haben geweitete Nüstern und hohe, gekrönte Mähnen. Die Burgen wirken, wie es sich gehört, solide mit ihren weit gezähnten Zinnen, während die Bauern von einer schlichten Kugel gekrönt werden.

Sie werden bei Schachspielern, Sammlern von Vintage-Schach und Hobbyisten großen Anklang finden, und zwar wegen ihres unverwechselbaren Aussehens, ihres Gewichts und ihrer Solidität, ihrer Stabilität, die von ihren breiten und gewichteten Basen herrührt, und wegen der mit Filz ausgekleideten Unterseiten ihrer Basen, die die Illusion erzeugen, dass sie auf dem Schachbrett schweben.

Keep the chessboard dry at all times, and avoid any form of exposure to water.

Water damages the board.

Keep the board away from extreme temperatures,humidity, an air conditioner, and a fan.

Humidity makes your board expand and contract.

Keep the chessboard away from direct sunlight or harsh artificial light to avoid damages.

If the chessboard gets scratched,clean the smudges with a little damp piece of fabric.

If the chessboard feels sticky, wipe with a piece of cloth.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft piece of fabric.

Use beeswax or 3M polish once a monthfor the shine of the board as the boards have HV melamine lacquer coating on them.

Keep chess pieces away from humidity and heat.

It can cause cracking, discolouration, and warping of chess pieces.

Do not use 3M polish for chessmen.
