Questo libro riunisce i due nomi più grandi nella storia degli scacchi. L'autore, Garry Kasparov, è il numero uno al mondo e, per consenso generale, il più grande giocatore di tutti i tempi. Il soggetto del libro, Bobby Fischer, è l'unico americano ad essere diventato campione del mondo ed è probabilmente il più grande talento naturale che il mondo abbia mai visto.
Nel periodo tra il 1955 e il 1972 Fischer, più o meno da solo, affrontò la potenza dell'Impero degli scacchi sovietico e vinse. Durante questo periodo Fischer ottenne successi straordinari mai visti prima. Tra questi, 11/11 nel Campionato USA 1963/64 e vittorie nei match (verso il Campionato del Mondo) con il punteggio di 6-0 contro due dei giocatori più forti al mondo, Mark Taimanov e Bent Larsen. Il culmine della campagna di Fischer fu la sua indimenticabile vittoria nel match di Reykjavik nel 1972 contro Boris Spassky.
Fischer è quasi altrettanto noto per il suo comportamento temperamentale fuori dalla scacchiera quanto per il suo gioco su di essa. Fece richieste estreme a tutti coloro che lo circondavano, inclusi gli organizzatori dei tornei. Quando queste richieste non venivano soddisfatte, spesso si rifiutava di giocare. Il match del 1972 contro Spassky richiese l'intervento nientemeno che di Henry Kissinger per risolvere la situazione. Nel 1975, quando doveva difendere il suo titolo contro Anatoly Karpov, Fischer non riuscì affatto a concordare i termini con la FIDE (la Federazione Internazionale degli Scacchi) e fu squalificato. Dopo questo episodio abbandonò più o meno gli scacchi, giocando solo una volta, un match di 'ritorno' contro Spassky nel 1992.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft piece of fabric.
Use beeswax or 3M polish once a monthfor the shine of the board as the boards have HV melamine lacquer coating on them.
Keep chess pieces away from humidity and heat.
It can cause cracking, discolouration, and warping of chess pieces.
Do not use 3M polish for chessmen.
