2024 Candidates Special Black Edition

In celebration of the Candidates 2024 Tournament in Toronto, Canada, we are releasing a Limited Edition of the Official World Chess Set, Black Edition. This is the design exclusively used in the Candidates and the Championship cycle. This special edition is limited to just 64 sets, reflecting the 64 squares of the chessboard. Each set is numbered. The set also features the signature packaging and storage box design.

The iconic World Chess Championship set approved by FIDE for the elite events and exclusively used in the World Chess Championship cycle is now paired with the handmade bespoke board constructed from ebony and maple. The classic World Chess hexagon is inlaid on both sides. 

Designed by Pentagram’s Daniel Weil for World Chess, the set is one of the most iconic chess designs in the world. Inspired by the Staunton, the set has been designed with the help of Vladimir Kramnik and Magnus Carlsen and first introduced in 2013.

The pieces are handmade from boxwood.
